“We love our Ouch roller, as Mr L is always in the wars playing outside. Yesterday he got a lump on his head, and we weren't sure if it was a bite or a bang, but we applied the Ouch roller - by this morning the lump is gone. Mr L loves his rollers and I love that he can apply them safely himself“

“One of the biggest misconceptions about essential oils is that because they are naturally occurring in plants and are not man-made, they are safer” - Robert Tisserand
Who's heard that bandied around before?
I think in a part life, I've even been guilty of saying it!
But life is a constant opportunity for education, and the chance to learn and do better!
So, is it true? And should there be?
I think I could find an oil for every ailment, I actually do.
But just because I CAN doesn't mean I SHOULD.
Here are 3 questions to ask before you reach for an oil, blend, or aromatherapy product:
Essential oils are awesome for sleep, but if you're staying up all night scrolling social media on your phone, the oils ability to do it's job is going to be severely affected. The conversation I have with all my clients regarding sleep always starts with "what are you doing at night time?" and "what else is going on in your day/routine?". Cedarwood may help convert serotonin to melatonin, but it's no good if you don't have serotonin to convert in the first place!
Aromatherapy is an amazing tool, but it needs to complement lifestyle and environmental factors.
Sure, that copaiba oil might be effective at reducing the dark circles around your eyes, but is it a good idea to apply neat essential oil within an inch of our eyeballs? Of course not! Rosemary oil might be great for your hair health, but what if you get pregnant? The sleep roller made for you might be game changing in your routine, but that doesn't mean it's going to be an ok formulation OR dilution for someone else, especially kids! What if your doctor prescribes a new medication, will it interact?
Aromatherapy, used with appropriate formulations, at appropriate dilutions can be super safe, and super effective, but there is no one-size-fits-all essential oil
The internet is amazing. Social media is fantastic. Network marketing companies are helping make high quality oils both mainstream and affordable - but every one has an angle (me included!) and not everyone has your best interests in mind. I've seen some doozies on the web, from adding neat lemon oil to water (essential oils are hydrophobic, literally oil and water don't mix), to using clary sage for all menstrual complaints (if your concerns are because of oestrogen-dominance, it's unlikely that clary sage is the best choice for you). Just because Isabella has been doing it with 'fabulous results' doesn't mean it's a good choice for you.
Aromatherapy information is so readily available on the web, but not all information is good information.
Consult with a registered aromatherapist.
(See, I told you I had an angle)
Essential oils use, especially for treating specific ailments, should ALWAYS be carefully and deliberately researched and formulated.
But not every one has the time to do the research, or access to the most appropriate oils for a particular issue.
That's where I'm here to help. Whether your concern is an ongoing, chronic issue, or the latest sniffle to run through childcare, aromatherapy MAY be a supportive ally in helping you be the healthiest you can.
Here's how to work with me, and determine the best essential oils for the job:
- - - - > If you already have a handy arsenal of essential oils:
Book a 30 minute initial consult with me, to take note of any relevant medical history and detail your current concerns. We'll also take note of what oils you have available, and prepare a plan and formulation going forward.
After your first appointment, you can choose from either a 15 or 30 minutes follow up, to check in, or move on to the next concern.
- - - - > If you don't have a collection to fall back on, or are brand new to aromatherapy:
Book a 30 minute initial consult with me, to take note of any relevant medical history and detail your current concerns. We'll prepare a plan and formulation going forward, and I will post out your remedies the next day.
After your first appointment, you can choose from either a 15 or 30 minutes follow up, to check in, or move on to the next concern.
In the unlikely event of a reaction, Instagram is usually the fastest way to get in contact with me.

I certified with an Advanced Aromatherapy Diploma from Centre of Excellence in January of 2023.
Prior to that I had been using and researching essential oils for use on myself, friends and family for 4 years.
After the birth of my third child, I registered with the Complementary Medical Association as an aromatherapist.
I'm also insured for products and practise.
Keeping myself to the highest standards possible, to bring you the best aromatherapy possible.
